![[Shield.png|250]] The Shield Common Skill is a Defensive skill, primarily used to negate one hit. Regardless of power level, the shield is "one layer" of defense. The shield can take a single hit before disappearing. The charged variant of the shield can stun one opponent touched by it. Once activated, the Shield skill takes about 0.7 seconds to visually activate, but it is useable even before you can see it on screen. You can have both the normal and charged activation of shield present at the same time. > [!note] A bug currently exists where activating multiple charged shields on top of each other will cancel the charged shields effect, but visually you will still have the charged shield. This means you won't stun other racers, even though it looks like you have a red shield around you. It worth noting that as of Season 10, the racer in last place cannot pickup Defensive Common Skills. I have been unable to find a difference in the time that an opponent is stunned based off the shield power level. I believe that the 5 [[Tiers of Combat]] actually determine the stun duration, and not the power level of a common skill.
